Alicia Mielke was born and raised on a wheat farm in Eastern Washington State. She received her Masters of Music from New England Conservatory studying with Paula Robison in 2013 and her Bachelors of Music, summa cum laude, from The University of Texas at Austin with Marianne Gedigian in 2011. Alicia placed 3rd at the Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition in 2013 and was the recipient of the 2012 Boston Woodwind Society Flute Merit Award. Alicia has given multiple recitals in her family’s barn in Harrington, WA with donations taken to benefit the Harrington Food Bank and Spokane Public Radio. Jennifer Slaughter is an active flute performer and music educator throughout the Inland Northwest. Jennifer currently holds the Third Flute position with the Spokane Symphony and has been teaching flute to students of all ages for over 10 years. She is an instructor of flute and children/family music programs throughout Spokane, WA; Coeur d’Alene, ID; and Sandpoint, ID. Jennifer completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Denver under Pamela Endsley. Following that, she received her Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from Boise State University studying under Dr. Nicole Molumby. Other flute instructors have included Jeffrey Barker, Barbara Gisler-Haase, and Sandra Moore Wacha.
